Lately I've been leaving a small gap between adjacent planes of color.

I didn't plan it this way at first. I just liked what happened when the colors didn't quite touch.

The underpainting stays visible. Sometimes it feels like an outline, sometimes another shape entirely.

I'm not sure where this will lead yet, but I keep looking at it.
